AKPIRC Goals, Purpose, and Vision

Goals
Assist parents to access and understand information about services and programs available to them with a focus on Early Childhood programs, NCLB, Alaska's accountability system, school choice, supplemental educational services, Indian Education, English language acquisition, and Special Education.

1.  Foster partnerships of parents, educators, and community agencies statewide to increase parent education, parental involvement, and promote children's learning.

2. Expand Parents as Teachers programs and training support to PAT programs.

3. Provide information to increase parent/family engagement in student learning and child development through information, referral, and training.

4. Effectively evaluate and disseminate project results, methods and products at local, state, and federal levels.
 

Purpose
AKPIRC's purpose is to help districts and schools strengthen parental involvement policies, programs, and activities that lead to improvements in student academic achievement and to develop and strengthen partnerships among parents (including parents of children from birth through age 5), families, community-based organizations, teachers, principals, administrators, and other school personnel in meeting the educational needs of children.
