AKPIRC Partners

The Alaska Parent Information and Resource Center (AKPIRC) includes five primary partners. They are the Southeast Regional Resource Center (SERRC), the Anchorage School District, the Copper River School District, the Yupiit School District, and Rural Alaska Community Action Program (RurAL CAP).  On the right side of this page you will find detailed information about each of our partners.

Each of the school district partners supports the activities of AKPIRC through the parent outreach activities of the Language and Culture Liaisons (LCLs).  The LCLs have an important roll in that they are the liaison between parents and schools.  They interpret and translate information for parents and provide information to families on the Alaska education system.  They also lead parent workshops with help from community and faith based groups to help parents understand how to be involvement in the schools. The LCLs also provide families valuable information about free tutoring. If your child attends one of the schools in our partner districts, please click on the school district link on this page to get additional information about the LCL program in your community, who the LCL contact is, and when the next workshop will take place.

Our partner, RurAL CAP, implements two Parents as Teachers (PAT) programs, one in Copper Center and one in Anchorage.  They also provide statewide training for all PAT family visitors.  For additional information about the nearest PAT program to you, click on the RurAL CAP link to the right.

AKPIRC partners are in regular communication to build parent involvement through successful programs.
