About RurAL CAP
RurAL CAP provides resources and services to enhance child and family development, improve housing, save energy, develop leadership, promote environmental conservation, prevent substance abuse, and foster independent living. Governed by a 24-member Board of Directors representing every region of the state, RurAL CAP is one of the
largest and most diversified nonprofit organizations in Alaska.
Head Start and Early Head Start programs make up the biggest part of RurAL CAP services with more than 200 employees working in 26 communities across the state.
Other services include weatherization
projects, AmeriCorps and VISTA community service programs, Homeward Bound, child care, affordable housing, health and wellness activities, and public policy and advocacy. Overall RurAL CAP employs more than 500 Alaskans annually.
About the Alaska Parent Information and Resource Center Partnership
The Alaska Parent Information and Resource Center (AKPIRC) grant is a network of j
oint services to support families from identified cultural groups within the Anchorage, Copper River, and Yupiit School Districts.
Services are provided through a partnership between the Southeast Regional Resource Center (SERRC), RurAL CAP Parents as Teachers (PAT) program, and the school district, and are connected to you by the Language and Cultural Liaison (LCL) in your school district.
