Yupiit School District

About the Yupiit School District
Located on the Yukon-Kuskokwim Delta of Western Alaska, the Yupiit School District (YSD) is a powerhouse of learning with certified staff of about 50 professionals along with 100 classified professionals all working hard to meet the educational needs of the 450 children of Akiachak, Akiak, and Tuluksak schools.

YSD is a unique blend of cultures and strives daily in preserving the Yup'ik culture while preparing students for their future in the 21st century. It is not at all unusual to hear lessons being taught to a first grader in Yup'ik, and then to watch that child go to the computer lab and function fluently in English on the Internet.

About the Alaska Parent Information and Resource Center Partnership
The Alaska Parent Information and Resource Center (AKPIRC) grant is a network of joint services to support families from identified cultural groups within the Anchorage, Copper River, and Yupiit School Districts.

Services are provided through a partnership between the Southeast Regional Resource Center (SERRC), RurAL CAP Parents as Teachers (PAT) program, and the school district, and are connected to you by the Language and Cultural Liaison (LCL) in your school district.
