Melissa Pickle - Parents as Teachers Alaska State Coordinator



Melissa Pickle is the Parents as Teachers Alaska State Coordinator. The role of the Parents as Teachers Alaska State Office is to support programs utilizing the Parents as Teachers curriculum through out the state. This includes advocacy efforts, collaboration and networking with other agencies and programs, providing communication to programs regarding early childhood issues in the state as well as activities at the PAT National Center, coordinating training institutes, and providing technical assistance.
 
Ms. Pickle has worked with young children and families for more than 15 years in a variety of roles including teacher, home visitor, early interventionist, trainer, and coordinator. Through her work she has had the opportunity to visit communities all through out Alaska from Ketchikan to Savoonga and many places in between. She has a B. A. in Psychology and a M. Ed., in Early Childhood Special Education. She is also a certified Program for Infant Toddler Caregiver Trainer. In her free time Ms. Pickle enjoys traveling and spending time with her family.
